Strategy Tips How to Win
1. Draw to the High Cards
Draw to the high cards if your hand contains one or two high cards. That’s to say if you have jacks or better.
2. Three High Cards of Different Suits
If you contain three high cards of different suits without having a pair. Hold only the non-ace high cards.
3. Two to a Royal Flush
If your hand does not contain a pair but has two to a royal flush. What must you do? Draw three cards for the royal. Note, even if you have a third high card.
4. Never Keep the Kicker
When you draw to a small pair get rid of the kicker.
5. Three to Four Cards to a Flush
If you have three to four cards to a flush discard the pair because it’s higher than trips.
6. Hand that Contains a Small Pair
If you have four cards to a straight and a small pair, draw the three cards to the pair.
7. Hand Contains Four Cards to a Flush
If you have a high pair and four cards to a flush, draw three cards to the high pair.
8. Four Cards to a Royal Flush
Catching a royal flush is the ultimate hand when playing Jacks or Better for real money.
The Jacks or Better video poker machine deals you 5 cards. So, if you have four cards to the royal, go for the royal flush. Don’t worry about what your fifth card may be.
9. Draw 5 Cards if You Have Zilts
It so happens that the video poker machine in Jacks or Better deals you 5 ‘useless’ cards. It’s better to discard all your cards and request the machine for 5 new cards.
That’s still better than drawing an inside straight or two draw cards to a small flush. However, a two-card draw straight flush is still better than a total redraw.
10. Play Jacks or Better with Free Credits
There’s no better way to hone your skills than playing with free credits. You can test the average payout and which poker hand pops up the most.
