Since 2024 the Michigan Gaming Control Board has ordered dozens of offshore casinos, sportsbooks and sweepstakes sites to stop serving Michigan, in batches it announces on its website. They include well-known names such as Bovada, BetOnline, MyBookie, Ignition and Slots.lv. An order doesn’t always mean the site stops taking Michigan players, but it can close accounts at short notice, so we leave those casinos off this page. We last checked the board’s announcements on October 21, 2026; it adds names regularly, so check again before you deposit.
We also read each casino’s own terms on October 14, 2026. None of the casinos on this page lists Michigan as a restricted state:

Yes. Online casinos, online poker, sports betting and fantasy sports are licensed in Michigan, and the state Lottery sells online too, for players 21 and over (18 for the Lottery and fantasy sports). Offshore casinos aren’t licensed by Michigan, and the Gaming Control Board orders them to stop serving the state when it finds them. We found no case of a player being prosecuted for playing at an offshore casino. What you give up is protection: no Michigan regulator checks these sites or can step in if a payout goes wrong, so stick to casinos with a payout record. We’re not lawyers, and this isn’t legal advice.
No Michigan law bans sweepstakes casinos by name, but the Gaming Control Board treats unlicensed sweepstakes sites as illegal gambling and orders them to stop; Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots and Global Poker pulled out of Michigan starting in November 2023. Daily fantasy sports are licensed, for players 18 and over. Michigan treats sports prediction markets as unlicensed sports betting: a state court ordered Kalshi to stop offering sports contracts here, and related cases are on appeal in federal court. We don’t list sweepstakes sites, fantasy sites or prediction markets on this page.

In the Upper Peninsula, Kewadin, Bay Mills, Island Resort, Ojibwa and Northern Waters run tribal casinos from Sault Ste. Marie to Watersmeet, and most are 18+.
Sports betting is legal in Michigan for players 21 and over, licensed by the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Two Detroit casinos took the first legal bets on March 11, 2020, and MotorCity followed a day later. Online betting started on January 22, 2021. Today 13 online sportsbooks are live, including BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, bet365, Fanatics, BetRivers and theScore Bet, and Michigan’s online sportsbooks handled $5.4 billion of bets in 2025.
