Where to play?
I stumbled on to this great NetEnt 3D slots thriller by chance and I must admit I’m happy I did. Fans of the Walking Dead can really bite into this one. You’re most probably wondering why I’m saying so.
I’m not a fan of zombies or horror themed slots in general but this one is a real gem. To begin with NetEnt’s Zombies offers a average (RTP) return of 97.5% to the player. It comes with 20 paylines and 5 reels. It’s loaded with scary zombies that will keep you in suspense at all times.
The maximum jackpot payout offered by Zombies 100,000 coins. It features loads of scatters, random wilds, multipliers, stacked wilds, free spins bonus round and scatters. The main symbols on the reels are a bloody brain, chainsaw, gas mask, club and axe, eye and zombies. The card symbols from 10 to ace look rather scary. They have that ghostly look about them.
Zombies is one of those games that sets the tempo from the onset and I might add it has no time for lackeys. Before you start blowing and hacking zombies asunder, set your coin bet range first. The game is divided into level 1 to 10. If you play with a coin value of $0.01 your average bet per spin will be $0.02. If you happen to be a high roller, set your bet level to 10 and your coin value to 1. You’ll note that the average bet per spin just shot up to $200. Before you play check the coin denomination settings first.
Right, let’s hop on to the random wild feature, suffice it to say this is where matters start getting serious. Once it’s triggered, two zombies heads will pop up on to your screen. When this happens they must be shot at six times. After each shot that’s fired a new wild pops up, in total 6 wilds appear here. It’s really a lucrative feature if you can trigger it.
Stacked Wild Feature (Scary Looking Zombie)
Must say when I saw that Zombies had a stacked wild feature I gave a whoop. The stacked wild icon only appears on the third reel. It can appear on a stacked wild or a single symbol or a stacked wild of 2 and 3.
The stacked wild will be nudged up and down even if a small portion of it appears. When it completes a winning line the entire reel is covered. This is a handy little feature and loads of cash can be won when it’s triggered. Talking of which, during the free spins bonus round the stacked wild feature does not appear. During the base game I managed to notch up a spectacular win of $15,000 when the stacked wild appeared with 3 wild symbols. I wagered $200 per spin in the free mode.
When 3 toxic glass like scatters symbols appear any place on reel 2, 3 and 4 it triggers the free spins. You’ll only receive five free spins. The bonus round kicks off where zombies are shot and they’re covered in toxic fog. A coin is awarded every time a zombie is shot. Zombie Score Meter indicates how many zombies you shot.
Another great incentive during the free spins is that bet line wins are multiplied after every win. The multiplier on the first spin is 1, second spin 2x it goes up to 10x on the tenth free spin. This is where the big cash is at, you can win as much as 100,000 coins during this feature.
Zombies is one of my favorite NetEnt slots, definitely in my top 5. The game offers a good return to the player with regular wins in between dry spins. It’s a low to medium variance game with loads of exciting icons and free spins.
