Whats not so hot?
The latest 3D slot releases from Yggdrasil Gaming has picked up where most iGaming vendors have left off. In my opinion the software developer is busy giving Net Entertainment a serious run for its money. With its latest release: Wicked Circus, it has tongues wagging in the online gambling world again. The game is ablaze with vivid graphics, wilds, bonus rounds and a captivating sound track that goes along nicely with its theme. All the necessary ingredients for a top slots. Right, let’s see what all the fuss is about.
Wicked Circus is 10 payline, 5 reel slots released on 21st of April 2016. Although the game’s main character the Joker looks like a funny fellow there’s quite a dark side to him. So don’t be fooled by his otherworldly charm. Paying icons on the reels look pretty similar to some of the Fruity machines found in pubs across the UK. They are grapes, bells, lucky 7’s, stars and lemons. With 5 paylines which run from both right-to-left and left-to-right potential wins can be doubled. The slots machine offers a total non-progressive jackpot payout of 6,000 coins and an average RTP (Return to player) payout percentage of 96.5%.
With 10 paylines the coin range is 0.01 up to 1.00. The minimum bet per spin £$.10 up to £$10. It’s pretty evident that the game is not a high rollers dream but suitable to players with smaller budgets. Normally payouts during the base game can be a tad on the low side. It’s nice to see that this is not the case. If you hit 3 cherries on an active payline you’ll receive 20 times your stake and 300 times your bet when you hit 5 stars.
The main bonus features of Wicked Joker are:
The game is teeming with loads of bonus goodies.
Three or more jester icons during the base game triggers the mystery wins. The amount of coins you’ll win depends largely on how many jester symbols landed across the reels:
What makes this feature even more interesting is that it can be triggered during the ‘Jokerizer’ bonus game. I’ll tell you more about it in a bit. Just keep in mind that whilst the bonus round is triggered, 2 jesters pays out anything from 40 up to 400 coins. But, it’s a different story during the main game. To qualify for a mystery win you must land a minimum of three jesters. Payouts offered by the mystery wins are random and fluctuate quite a lot.
I must point out there are no scatters that trigger it, it’s triggered randomly. The Jokerizer round offers larger payouts since it encourages the player to wager more. The downside to it is that with higher bets comes higher losses too. The minimum wager per spin is £$0.20. Then again the minimum bet only increased by 10 pence.
To receive a mystery win you only need to hit two jester icons on the reels. There’s a strong correlation between payouts here and in the main game. Both of them offer the same payout for 5 jester icons. What I like about the bonus game is that you can end it at any time. That said, the round automatically ends if you’ve won 500 coins or more. To accomplish this feat you must land at least 3 jester symbols.
This is an interesting feature. If you manage a jester win the reels can be held. The reels with the jesters on them remain ‘locked’ and the remainder of the reels (without jesters) will spin again. However, this bonus game is slightly more expensive and volatile than the previous two bonus rounds (Jokerizer and Mystery Wins). The minimum bet per spin shoots up to £0.60 or 60 coins.
When it comes to payouts Wicked Circus blows hot and cold. It’s a medium to high variance slots that’s interspersed with minimum bet levels at different bonus rounds. Keep a close eye on your bankroll especially during the ‘Jokerizer and Hold Function’ modes. Can’t say this is the best Yggdrasil slots of the lot. I’m not too eager to buy another ticket to watch this circus.
