Boxing fans will be delighted with Rival’s next installment-Heavyweight Gold. This 3D game is an i-Slot machine that sports a unique boxing theme, in-play bonus rounds, scatters and multipliers. It features 20 paylines and 5 reels with an expanding wild icon (blond boxer).
Heavyweight Gold offers a house edge of 3.5% and a total jackpot payout of 1,000 coins. That’s at the maximum bet per spin. As is the custom with all my slots reviews I play the game for free or for real cash. Long story short this is now my favorite Rival slots. It’s relatively loose and has more bonus games than a sultan has oil.
Paying icons on the reels are the bucket, medical kit, the bell, boxing bag, dumbbell, champions belt, the coach and referee.
Don’t get the gloves on just yet. Select the proper coin denomination first. It begins with a very conservative 0.1 up to 0.25. Ten coins can be wagered per line. The minimum bet per spin is $0.20 and the maximum bet per spin is $50. This game is a delight to both low, medium and high rollers. If it’s your first time playing this video slots I suggest you start off with $0.2 per spin and work your way up to $0.75 (3 lines) per spin.
- Knock Out Bonus Round: This is a superb bonus feature I managed a win of $850 here. That said my opponent landed a couple of hefty punches that left me reeling. It works like this. The knock out bonus is triggered when you hit 3,4 or 5 opponent icons. A new screen opens up and you get the option of ‘Defend’ or ‘Attack’. If you manage to knock your opponent out you’ll receive a huge payout. You’ll hear ‘The Eye of The Tiger’ blaring away in the background. Your first opponent is relatively easy, let’s call him the skinny guy (Melvin Meyerstein). Your next two opponents are animals and a lot tougher. One looks like Mr T from the A-Team and the other one like Hulk. If you can knock them out you’ll receive a whopping amount of cash. Tip: Your trainer offers sounds advice listen to him.
- Free Spins: What more can I say about the free spins. It’s unlocked by 3,4 or 5 scatter symbols (hot lady) with a multiplier of 3x. You’ll be prompted to click on the free spins screen. Once it opens up you’ll notice two woman on either side of your screen. The one on the left indicates how much cash you’ve won and the one on the right shows the amount of free spins you have left. Additional free spins can be won if you land 3 or more scatter lady symbols. Whilst this game was in motion I managed 30 spins and a win of $350. Once you’re free spins are finished you’ll return to the base game.
- Expanding Wild: This icon is the blond-haired boxer. He reminds me of Dolf Lundgren of Rocky IV. When it appears on an active payline it substitutes all wins except the scatter symbol. Five symbols at the max. bet offers a payout of 1000 coins.
Suffice it to say I’m a fan of Heavyweight Gold. Overall it’s a superb slots machine with two distinct bonus games (Knock Me Out and Free Spins) as well as an expanding wild. The only caveat I have is that payouts during the base game are not as good as it should be. Especially when the expanding wild icon appears. But it’s a completely different story if you can trigger the bonus games. To sum things up it’s a highly entertaining game with a funny theme to boot.
