Whats not so hot?
Golden Tiger is a medium variance Asian themed progressive video slot from iSoftBet with 3 reels and 5 paylines. The visual styling of the online slots is not as bright as that of its previous release, Wild Ape. With that being said, it’s a classic fruit machine built into a wooden cabinet with the usual Chinese-styling and motif.
The jackpot (progressive) that can be won on a single spin is 1,000x your stake (£10,000). Bets per spin start at £0.10 to £10 playable on mobile devices and PC desktops. The game’s bonus rounds begin with Stacked Wins (multiplier wins of 2x for 3 symbols) and a left and right-hand wheel which we’ll get to in a bit.
Symbols spread out across the reels are coloured tiger coins (blue, green and red), gold pots, Golden Tiger, red wallet and gold coins of different varieties. The premium symbol is the Golden Tiger coin, and 3 of them on the reels pay 100x your stake. Golden Tiger slots have an RTP (average return to player percentage) of 95.95%.
Golden Tiger Collect
The Golden Tiger Collect bonus is triggered when you fill the reels with three matching symbols that give you a multiplier win of 2x. Essentially, all wins are doubled since it is a progressive jackpot. Thus the payout can be pretty decent.
The Stacked Wins feature is not played in the conventional sense, and what intrigues us about it is that there are no scatters or wilds. For every Golden Tiger coin that appears, a reel position is highlighted. You’ll only gain access to the bonus round once you have activated at least 9 positions.
There are two wheels. The wheel on the left has a grouping of symbols on it, and when the marker stops on three matching symbols, you’ll receive a cash prize. If the pointer stops on the Red Tiger symbol, you will win £300 (30 coins), providing your bet is £10. If we shift our attention to the wheel on the right, we see that it is loaded with multipliers that reach 2x, 4x, 8x to 10x. You’ll bag the jackpot of £10,000 when the marker lands on the multiplier of 10x.
A phrase that comes to mind is George Bernard’s Shaw’s: “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” iSoftBet’s Golden Tiger takes us back to the format of yesteryear; the old 2D styling if you will.
Progressive jackpots do what they do best; they just focus on one thing, and that’s the jackpot side of things, and Golden Tiger slots is another prime example thereof. The features found on each Bonus Wheel like the big multipliers and stacked symbols, keep the slots exciting. Not our favourite game by a long shot, and if you are an avid jackpot hunter, Mega Moolah from Microgaming will tick all the boxes your you.
How many bonus rounds does the progressive have?
It has two; the Stacked Wins and the Golden Tiger Collect features (Bonus Wheels). The jackpot of 1,000x your stake is won when the arrow lands on the 10x multiplier. Unfortunately, Golden Tiger is not linked to any progressive jackpot network; therefore, the jackpot of £10,000 remains fixed.
How can I maximize my winning chances in the game?
If we strip Golden Tiger right down to its nuts and bolts, there’s nothing much to it really. Playing a progressive is simple, yet it must be calculated. You should decide on how much money you are prepared to lose, your average bet per spin and you should use the Auto Spin tool. If you have £1,000 to burn on the game, bet the max bet of £10 per spin, and realistically you have 100 spin opportunities to hit the top prize of £10,000.
