Playtech is known for releasing video slots with high-definition visuals plus loads of bonus games (free spins and Pick Me) built into them that offers pennies on the dollar. I’ve decided to play RoboCop one of its newest slot releases with a bankroll of £150.

To be honest it’s the first Playtech slots I’ve played thoroughly in ages since I prefer NetEnt or Microgaming games. Our initial review of the slots was a good one but when you play it for real money it’s a different story altogether. Suffice to say you can win wds of cash or things can go South very fast. (

”RoboCop slots has 8 bonus modes of which 4 are randomly triggered during the main game in conjunction with dispersed wilds, a 3×3 ED-209 big wild that appears on the 3 centre reels, multipliers of 2x and a Pick Me’ game.”

RoboCop Playtech Slots Synopsis

Before I continue let me just give you a brief overview about the game first. It contains 25 paylines, 5 reels, it has various free spins options loaded with wilds, multipliers from 2x to 5x and it pays out a top non-progressive jackpot of 2,500 coins.

Keep in mind that it is a medium variance slots with a RTP (return to player percentage) of 96.2% so wins won’t come easy but if they do payouts can be okay. The theme of the game is based on the 1987 Hollywood film RoboCop. The movie did surprisingly well at the Box Office grossing more than $8 million in the U.S in its first week.

I played the game at an average stake of £0.25 per spin armed with a budget of £150. It’s a medium variance slots so expect a few dry spins in between wins.

Based on my playing experience I’d say it pays on every 5th spin. What I also like about the game is that actual footage from the film is shown once a bonus mode is triggered. I triggered the OCP bonus and managed a win of £2.50 which is 10x my stake.

What makes the OCP bonus mode special is that the wild plays a pivotal role and multiplier wins can be as high as 5x. I must admit with regard to multipliers I didn’t have much luck here.

Triggering The Free Spins Feature

The free spins bonus mode is initiated when 3 golden badge scatters appear any position on the reels. It took me around 75 spins (75x£0.25=£18.75) to trigger the free spins.

A new screen opens up giving you a variety of free spins options. Starting with the Robot Attack free spins that awards 5 free spins along with ED-209 Big Wild, Pick Your Bonus Feature, Shootout Games which awards 10 free spins along with random wilds, the OCP Mega Bonus that comes with 5x multipliers, a Random Bonus games and the last one of the lot is the Line Up bonus mode that awards 15 free spins with multipliers of 2x.

The free spins feature I picked was the ‘Shootout Games’ that awards 10 free spins with random wilds. It shows actual footage from the film where RoboCop kicks down a door and where he shoots the bad guys hidden in different locations. Here you must shoot the reels with the blocks in them with RoboCop’s firearm by hitting as many random wilds as possible. I managed to win £13.50 which is 54x my stake-not bad at all!

Shortly after I landed another 3 scatters, I picked the ‘Robot Attack‘ free spins feature that awards 5 free spins but it comes with the ED-209 Big Wild that really spices things up. To be honest I only managed a palsy payout of £2.50, a tad disappointing since I expected way more. What I’ve noted to hit a win of 54x at my current stake per spin is difficult, don’t even think about it during the main game cause it’s not going to happen unless you’re very lucky.

Tips And Strategy

RoboCop slots is one of those games where you either go in boots and all or you go home. I played the game at the lowest bet per spin and managed to win £13.50 or 54x my stake.

In hindsight it’s not a bad payout per se but in terms of big wins that’s as far as things went for me-the game just clammed after that despite triggering the other bonus modes a couple of times. Only play it if an online casino offers you free spins.

I didn’t even mention the wins I had during the ‘Pick Your Bonus‘ feature because it was so bad-think I won £1.75. One thing I’ve learned though is that it’s not for low staked players like myself but designed specifically for high rollers. Instead of spinning the reels at a meager £0.25 per spin I should wagered £25 (the maximum bet).

In summary. When it comes to playing online slots choose your game wisely. As harsh as this may sound Playtech’s RoboCop it not a game I’d stick a pin into. Initially it comes across as a ‘money spinner’ but it’s not. If you really have the cash to burn and you want to go in guns a blazing play it at the maximum bet per spin.

If you win, walk away a winner and if you lose don’t play it again. If you’re looking for a medium variance slots that’s not as volatile as this one we recommend Microgaming’s Goldwyn’s Fairies:
