Play N’ Go has been releasing some spectacular slot games lately this is why I decided to take its newest release Prissy Princess video slot for a few real money spins. The first time I saw the slots was at the ICE Exhibition in London.
Aside from the game’s quirky visuals I must say I’m impressed with its game mechanics especially the re-spins offered on winning reels and the ‘Crumbling Towers‘ feature. Prissy Princess is an unusual name for a slots it so happens that players often pronounce the name wrong but I leave that to your imagination.
Volatility wise it’s at the lower end of the spectrum which is great for low staked players like myself. Of particular interest is the expanded fire breathing dragon that shows its wild side when the three knights appear. So what’s the theme of the game all about? To begin with you’re prince charming and your job is to win the hand of the princess by entering a tournament. Here you must compete against two other knights also courting the princess. Part of your quest is to reach the treasure and to find the fire breathing dragon which breathes wild fire onto symbols turning them into wilds, right let’s get on with it.
Bonus Modes Galore
Prissy Princess slots offers a theoretical return to player percentage of 96.5% but shoots up during the various bonus modes to well above 97%. With a bankroll of £100 my minimum bet per spin was £1 which is ideal for low rollers. The maximum bet is £100 which will put a smile on any high-staked player’s face.
The top cash prize that can be won is 6,000x your stake or 1,000 coins. A unique aspect about the game is that it has cascading reels as opposed to spinning ones. When a winning combination occurs they explode just to be replaced by new ones which is similar to NetEnt’s Gonzo’s Quest.
For what it’s worth I’m quite impressed with the base game wins especially when you hit 3 wilds on the centre reel causing the dragon to pop up boosting wins. It’s quite a funny dragon to boot too. The princess is the other wild symbol, when it appears in a winning combination it replaces the other symbols which triggers the ‘Treasure Chest’ bonus. A wheel will spin allowing you to win anything from 3x up to 100x your stake. I managed a win of 5x my stake (£5) here nothing to shout about but it’s better than nothing. The other interesting snippet about the knights is that when you hit three of them on a reel you got yourself a wild reel!
Keep An Eye On Those Flags!
There are two bonus features that you must pay special attention to; the first one is the ‘Crumbling Towers’ feature and the other is the ‘Tournament Bonus’ game. The Crumbling Towers feature is initiated at the end of every winning spin where the reels collapse offering you a re-spin. Note, the Crumbling Towers can be triggered up to 4 times. The Tournament bonus game is triggered by 3 scatters when the Purple Flag pitches on reel 1, the Green Flag on reel 3 and the Blue Flag on reel 5. You job here is to pick the winning knight, in other words the one who you think will win the tournament and who will win the hand of the princess.
The other bonus modes are the ‘Dragons Pride‘ expanding wild, it’s initiated when 3 knights pop up on the reels and the ‘Dragon’s Breath’ which is triggered when no payline wins are recorded. The flags play an important role too, whenever the appear they’ll cause the bottom reels to explode which will be replaced by the top ones, so don’t be surprised if successive wins occur.
Another key component about the flags is that they become sticky offering a bunch of re-spins. The biggest win I had at this stage was when 3 knights along with the princess pitched on the reels. The dragon flew across my screen turning one of the knights into a wild giving me 5 wilds or a win of 10x my stake (£10).
Shortly after the Green flag appeared on the centre reel it gave me successive re-spins and a win of 10x (£10) my stake. My take on the game thus far is your chances of hitting a win of 200x your stake is pretty remote unless you’re very lucky.
This is the business end of Prissy Princess since the biggest wins occur here. It is triggered when 3 knights in conjunction with a flag appear-in my case the green flag pitched. I won £13 just for triggering the bonus mode.
A new screen opens up that says: ”Congratulations! You have entered the Tournament to win the princess’ affection and half the kingdom.” Here you must pick a knight that you think will sway the princess with his wily charms. Against the backdrop of your screen you’ll see the princess in a tower even the dragon is serenading the princes!
I just went with my gut feeling and picked the knight with the black mustache, after all he looked the more serious one of the bunch and the meanest. The screen started flashing, notes were flying all over the place, I said to myself this might be it-the big win finally, not! The dragon came first and I came fourth, I managed a win of £2, it’s nuts I know. Clearly the princess doesn’t like me! I managed to trigger the tournament bonus game again and picked the same knight again, surely I’ll win this time round. I came third and won £10.25, however, I wasn’t eliminated and had a another crack at the tournament.
The princess wasn’t stuck in a tower but much closer to the action. Once again I had a choice of 3 knights, I decided to pick the knight with the black mustachio again. I came second place winning a cool £20.25! I progressed to the third round, by the way there are 4 rounds in total. The third round entails an archery competition, it was between the knight with the rose and the knight with the mustache, I decided to go with the flower knight this time round, suffice to say I lost! The trials ended for me but I still won £15 in the bonus game.
Tips And Strategy
It’s a low variance game that offers a slew of wins during the main game albeit small. When three knights appear on the reels the dragon comes along turning all three of them into wilds, you’re looking at a win of around 4x your stake. The bonus game that offers the biggest cash prize is without a doubt the ‘Jousting Tournament’ but it requires a bit of luck since your chances of picking the right knight is 30%.
In summary. Play N’ Go’s Prissy Princess slots is really a fun game to play, it has polished visuals and one can clearly see that the developers spend some time getting this one of the floor. However, if you managed a win of 50x your stake consider yourself lucky. It’s not the type of game you’ll play for the big wins but one you’ll play purely for entertainment purposes. Taking into account how long I played the game and my average bet per spin I made a whopping profit of £5!
